Mistletoe

For many, the Christmas decor isn’t complete without hanging the mistletoe. This wild parasite, with its bright green leaves and cream-colored berries, adds a festive touch. However, it’s not advisable to let your dog or cat linger beneath it.

Mistletoe is toxic to both cats and dogs, as well as horses. Ingesting this poisonous plant can lead to various issues, from mild to severe, including diarrhea, vomiting, trouble breathing, slowed heart rate, and rarely, low blood pressure. Despite the risks, some may still choose to decorate with live mistletoe, often hung high to prevent pets’ access.
