You can probably guess that homemade Air Fryer Potato Chips are much healthier than a bag of chips you buy at the store. You can cook thin slices of potatoes in your air fryer with very little oil instead of deep-frying them.
But if you’ve ever tried to make potato chips in the oven, you know how hard it can be to get them just right.
Sometimes the edges of the chips get a little too done, but the middle is still soft. Even though they aren’t crispy in the middle, you have to take them out of the oven so the edges don’t burn.
However, there is still a chance. We have perfected a recipe for homemade potato chips that always comes out delicious. In addition, they take much less time to prepare than in the oven. Read on for the recipe!

Both the Power 360 XL Air Fryer and the Ninja Foodi Pressure Cooker and Air Fryer combo have been used to test this recipe.
Instructions
Before we get into the details of how to make Potato Chips in the Air Fryer, it’s important to say which kind of potato works best.
No matter how much we like Yukon Gold potatoes, now is not the time to get them out of the cupboard. The best choice here is Russet potatoes. When made into potato chips, they just hold up better and cook more evenly.
It’s time to get going now.
Peel Your Potatoes
The first thing you need to do is peel your potatoes. Some people don’t think this is necessary, but the texture is better when the skin isn’t there.
Also, when the potato skins are removed, the edges don’t burn as easily.
After peeling your potatoes, cut them into very thin slices. You could slice the potatoes with a sharp knife or a mandolin slicer.
This will help you make sure the potato chips are the same thickness and thin enough, so they cook evenly. But when using a mandolin slicer, be sure to use the cutting guard!
Soak The Potatoes
Put the cut potatoes in a large bowl and cover them with cold water. Make sure the potatoes don’t stick together by stirring them. This will help the potatoes give up their starches.
Let them sit for at least 30 minutes in the cold water. Then, pour off the water and rinse the potatoes a few times to get rid of any starch that has gathered on top.
Dry Them
Now, put a layer of paper towels under the chips. Then, dry the tops with a paper towel and put the chips on a dry paper towel.
Before putting the chips in the air fryer, give them 15 minutes to dry out in the air.
Now to the Air Fryer
While you wait, turn on the air fryer and let it heat up for 3 minutes. Then spray or brush olive oil on both sides of the potato slices and put them in the basket of the air fryer.
It’s best to put them all on top of each other. But I have stacked them before and done well with it.
But I wouldn’t put more than one medium-sized potato slice in at a time. Do things in groups if you want to get more done.
Set the timer for 16 minutes once the potatoes are in the basket. Give the basket a good shake when you’ve reached the halfway point.
How to Get the Potato Chips Crispy?
Then, turn up the heat to 400°F and keep cooking for another 5 minutes.
At this point, you should check the potato chips to see how crisp they are. Take out any chips that are crunchy on the outside and just a little bit soft in the middle.
The potato chips will keep getting crisper even after you take them out of the air fryer.
Cook the slices at 400°F for 2 minutes at a time until the edges are crispy, and the middle is just a little bit soft. After you take them out of the air fryer, you can season them with salt, garlic salt, seasoning salt, or whatever else you like.
Let them cool all the way down. Eat right away or put in a container that won’t let air in and keep for up to two days.
Enjoy!
